However, black Americans are subject to discrimination both overt and subtle from the time of preschool until college. Here's what research showsThe findings of a recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center underscore this point. According to the survey the results showed that black Americans who have some college experience were more likely to report that they had been treated differently than people with no the college experience. Other results from the survey showed several differentiators between blacks with college experience versus blacks without college education. For instance 55% of those with college experience said that they have been suspicious during the past 12 months, while only 38% of those without college experience claimed this. Similar to that, 52 percent of those with a college education said that people behaved as if they thought they weren't smarter as opposed to 37 percent of people with no college experience. Tyrone, a four year-old black boy, was raised that had two parents. Like most four-year-olds, Tyrone is a nerdy kid and has a vivid imagination. He is a huge fan of books, loves to color and paint and enjoys physical activities such as running, jumping and playing games with his pals. Tyrone's behavior is similar to that of other four-year-olds. He talks more than he listens and can be unpredictable. If he's upset Tyrone may throw, punch and spill. Tyrone had to drop a game that he was playing with a friend. Tyrone was furious and threw the ball towards his friend. Tyrone's actions were immediately discovered by the teacher who confronted him. Tyrone was furious at being confronted and began to walk away. The teacher was able to grab his arm. Tyrone reacted by pushing the teacher off. The teacher sent Tyrone to the office of the principal. Tyrone was found to pose a threat to students and staff after consultation with the principal. The schooling process in the first years of life This appears to be an easy instance of imposing the right sanctions on students suspected of engaging in serious student misconduct. There does not appear to be any racial implication regarding the incident. However, consider the fact that there have been numerous instances of white students engaged in the same behavior, none of which ever result in being suspended. This is the reality that racialized black students experience every day in American schools. Black boys are nearly three times more likely be suspended than white boys, and black girls are four times as likely to get suspended as white girls. Black students are more likely to be detained for misbehavior than other students.
